Julien is a research scientist at Aspetar, looking into the influence of heat stress and altitude on athletic performance. He is a former professional triathlete having competed for Canada on the ITU World and Continental Cup circuit (2002-2007), as well as the French Grand Prix (2005). During this time, he was part of the National Development Team and trained at the National Triathlon Centre in Victoria, Canada. Julien is also a former age group national triathlon champion (2001). As a cyclist, he has won regional road races in Canada and Qatar, competed in multi-stage mountain bike races in Australia and Oman, along with the Tour of Sharjah and Al Zubarah, both UCI (2.2) multi-stage road races...

2014 and 2015 race stats: Rarely missed a podium place in Qatar's local road races through 2014. Finished somewhere around the middle of the field in the 2014 ToAZ - despite puncturing five times... Qualified for UCI Amateur World Championship Final Aalborg, Denmark in the qualifier event in March 2015 (but broke my collar bone 100 metres after the finish line and haven't raced since).
